應用精進獎 Applied Design Award;
Molecure Pharmacy
優選 Distinction;
Waterfrom Design Co.Ltd
優選 Distinction;

The outdoor cathedral made of light along Oxford Circus to celebrate the festive season on street. In the light of the opening of the Elizabeth Line, as well as plans for pedestrianisation in Oxford Street, Christmas of 2018 provides rare opportunity for the area of Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street to take the stage and reinforce its image as the go-to place for a festive experience in London. Unique Identity of the Area In the design proposal, sense of place is established through an overarching interiority created by light. The consistent design provides strong sense of identity across the area. Highlights and points of interest are created by variants of the same family, guiding people to discover each of the differences. Characters are given to individual junctions, corners and lanes, while still be within a unifying identity. Faithful to the Celebration In today’s mass consumption of information, occasions for physical encounter become ever more valuable, and Christmas as a tradition to celebrate the advent of Christ remains the most important amongst. At this time when people come together, the design proposes to recreate a huge cathedral covering the area in elements of light, bringing all people arriving under the same roof, serving as a graceful reminder of the nature of the Christian festival. Experience to a Dignified History The area has a very rich history, reflected on its architecture. As a compliment, the design proposes an overarching cathedral of light. Architectural elements referencing St. Paul’s Cathedral transform into meshes of illumination, on one hand contrasting the heftiness of the street facades, on the other finding harmony in a similar architectural language. In place of cliche icons of santa claus, reindeer and snowman, would be nave, aisle and choir. On an international level, regards to St. Paul’s Cathedral as a landmark reinforces the appeal of the area to a global audience. Contemporary Design Solution Baseline of the proposal is a catenary lighting system suspended at regular intervals along the streets, covering majority of the area, which is well tested and adopted in the past years. These segments together form the naves of the cathedral. At key junctions, featured domes and vaults are created by suspended lighting. These can be formed by radial segments of structural cable tied to the roofs of buildings, and if budget is sufficient, formed by suspended wireframe that would remain iconic in daytime. Wire-mesh-nature of the proposal inherently minimises wind load, rain load or snow load, while its vault-nature deals with headroom for traffic and blends into street facades, with potential opportunity for the lighting to come down to the ground and interact with visitors in pedestrianised areas.
優選 Distinction;最佳人氣獎 People's Choice Award ;
Copenhagen islands
社會設計獎 Social Design Award;評審團推薦獎 Judges’ Special Award;
Marshall Blecher
marshall blecher,magnus maarbkerg,
Ø1 is a prototype floating island park designed by Marshall Blecher and Magnus Maarbjerg. It represents the first step in the ‘Copenhagen islands’ project which will see a collection of islands floating through the city, bringing life and activity back to the former industrial harbourside. The prototype (named after the single letter danish word for island) was recently launched and can be found floating around the south of Copenhagen harbour. It is open to the public and has so far been used for bbq’ing, stargazing, winter bathing, by local fishermen, and has hosted some small events. The 25m2 island was constructed by hand in the boat building yards in the south harbour of Copenhagen using traditional wooden boat building techniques and features a 6m linden tree growing at its centre. The project will see an archipelago of similar floating wooden islands scattered around the harbour supporting various functions. A floating sauna island, floating gardens, floating mussel farms and a floating diving platform that would be used freely by boaters, kayakers and bathers. The clear waters of the inner city harbour are being enjoyed by thousands of people every day with water that is now clean enough to swim in and eat some fish from. ‘Copenhagen islands’ will make the most of this new paradigm and provide a totally new type of public space for people to enjoy.

The structure was inspired by nature (Biomimics), and so bold presentations simulating nature are ubiquitous. Its outside resembles a weaving consisting of fabric or rattan transforming into isometric protective structures to soften the stiffness of architecture and create skylights. Inside, wood from the ceiling to the walls resembles the cross section of a stem, while its wood veneer and light reinforce the dramatic tension of the shadows.

Logistic Republic Automation Warehouse, Between Machine, Between Human. In contrast to traditional forklift, logistical automation utilizes computer software and automated machinery to improve the efficiency of transporting warehouse goods in and out of facilities. Logistic automation saves time and reduces the workforce required to run a facility. Thus the majority of logistic properties seeks to modify their warehouse towards utilizing this system. There is a great ratio divide between operating machineries and on-site staff, and conventional automation warehouses often lack well-designed spaces that houses employees who remain to operate and maintain the machineries. The challenge for Logistic Republic Automation Warehouse is to bridge the gap between the two. Since the emphasis on logistical automation is efficiency, and how time can be best utilized effectively, we wanted to design a space that allows staff working on-site to interact, meet, exchange ideas, and better work efficiently. Instead of designing a space with traditional sci-fi aesthetic that leans toward glossy finishes and sleek linear lines, we wanted to avert our focus on the human aspect of occupancy. How can we design a space that would enhance human interaction with space, goods, and productivity? By revisiting the original key components of the warehouse industry, evaluating materials that have been used in the past, we were curious to see what are some possible options for the future of this industry due to the cost efficiency restraint of steel shed design in Taipei. The project is accomplished through the use of plastic covers found in refrigeration facilities, graphic patterns used to indicate safety and different programmatic areas, and exposing certain parts of drywall to indicate the progression of warehouse construction. With a center designed for human interaction, allowing better human inhabitation, it alters what people normally perceive as warehouse culture.

Moving Dunes Since 2012, every year from June to October, the Avenue du Musée in downtown Montreal, adjoining the Museum of Fine Arts of Montreal (Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal ; MBAM) is pedestrianized and transformed into an urban public art piece. The MBAM uses an annual design competition as an opportunity to choose among local designers to recreate its outdoor extended space. “Moving Dunes” is the 2018 winning proposal, the realization of which has been achieved in May 2018. Moving Dunes dialogues with the museum’s summer theme, “From Africa to the Americas: Picasso face-to-face past and present”, to offer an unconventional public place. In order to complement the ambiance of the indoor exhibition, and augment the visitor experience, we drew inspiration from the indigenous arts and the visual approach of cubist painters. Originally, the expression “primitive art” was used to identify foreign art, the art of the lunatics, and the art of children. These categorizations highlight the strong level of expressiveness put forward by this type of art and the possible diversity of meaning they can generate through the interpretative process of the observer. Cubists played with both of these attributes to draw question on the use of classical perspective in pictorial representation, a dominant visual tool since the Renaissance. Thus inspired, as a critique of contemporary clichés that are far too often frozen and generic, we imagined an anamorphosis on the ground, changing in accordance to the position of the visitor in the landscape. This trompe-l’œil created with a primitive motif of parallel lines, “moves” the visitors of the Avenue du Musée in a geometrical landscape, intangible yet disruptive. This mirage of rolling sand dunes is materialized with a selection of warm colors reflecting the aridity and heterogeneity of the Saharan desert and a set of four chrome spheres intensifying the oasis feel of the landscape while reflecting major works of architecture and the museum “Sculpture Garden” surrounding the site. The hand-painted graphics on the ground vibrate under the alternation of fawn shades. The mirroring spheres are arranged to provide sufficient relief to activate the movement of the painted patterns on the ground while being safe for pedestrians. Through their wandering on the dunes, the passersby discover the presence of the reflective mounds that amplify the effect of the distorted ground underneath, and deform the built surroundings. The public space is filled and animated with deformed bodies, blurring known markers and thus destabilizing the walker. Creating the Avenue du Musée topography was the main challenge of the project, as municipal laws prohibit the implementation of volumes on public roads. Regardless, we were able to carry out the project according to its original intentions: the quality of the proposal and the refinement of execution plans seduced the competition organizers. At the time of writing, four shimmering balls give the impression to emerge from the ground, reaching a height of 900 mm.

'Why asked a Taiwanese designer to design a Thai restaurant', it's a question that I put forward to my clients. I began to call Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta, a good Thai architect of mine at the Dictator for Architecture and Design in Thailand, to see what kind of collaboration we can work together with to form a unique Taiwan-Thailand restaurant concept. After much research to the eating habits of Thailand, we realize one of the most interesting things about cooking in Thailand is the market food street style becoming almost an daily life. We wanted to portray this very easy-going dining experience by recreating this experience, but at a more refined way to look at what it means to be Thai. After much research we found the bamboo weaving as one of the most essential elements to carrying food, eating on, sitting on, containing food, it is very closely related to the everyday life of a Thai. We also love the idea of the Thai market very much, this almost temporary tent like space which covers the streets so the vendors could show their own food identity and their own culture with in. The result was a combination of the bamboo weaves and market tents, with lot of investigation between Taiwan and Thailand to weave these bamboos into different density and shapes that formed 6 different patterns. We then transported these hand woven nets from Thailand to Taiwan to create the idea of market approach to the unique Thai style dining experience.
