2020年品域中国交互公共艺术装置系列设计竞赛—品域·凌云里是面向全球艺术、设计及数字新媒体类机构及专业院校发起的以品域中国城市更新类项目--品域·凌云里为基地，以交互公共艺术装置为设计目标的国际设计竞赛。

URS China Interactive Public Art Installation Design Competition 2020 LINGYUN LANE  is open to art institutes, design and digital media institutes and universities across the world, where the installation will be placed in an urban renewal project “Lingyun Lane” in Xuhui District, Shanghai, China.

 

竞赛由城市更新开发运营平台品域中国及国际设计竞赛品牌Young Bird Plan联合发起，本次竞赛旨在通过广大艺术、设计、数字新媒体等相关领域内专业人士、爱好者的参与，在品域·凌云里项目中设计交互公共艺术装置，增加该项目的艺术性、趣味性和互动性，探讨城市更新项目激活的可能性。

The competition is jointly launched by URS China (an operation platform of urban renewal and development in China) and Young Bird Plan (an international design competition brand), which calls for submissions of interactive public art installation designed for the project of Lingyun Lane through the participation of professionals and enthusiasts in the arts, design and digital media circles, so as to make the project more artistic, interesting and interactive. Besides, the possibility of urban renewal project activation shall be also further explored and discussed.

同时交互公共艺术装置也将成为品域中国城市更新系列项目的特色标志，通过一系列有创意，有特色的入口，营造“社区艺术”氛围，将交互艺术通过设计融入大众生活，与周边使用者形成良性互动，拉近彼此距离，提升环境品质与幸福感。

Meanwhile, the installation will become the distinctive symbol of URS China’s urban renewal projects. A series of creative and unique entrances will create a culture of art community by integrating interactive art and public life. Also, the installation will bring people closer together by interacting with surrounding users so as to improve the environmental quality and people’s happiness.

品域·凌云里位于上海徐汇区天等路400号（凌云街道），项目处于徐汇区南部，地理位置佳，历史悠久，文化底蕴浓厚，科创基础扎实，属于徐汇区十三五规划“漕河泾-华泾创新创业带”的中心地带。

The project of Lingyun Lane is located in No. 400 Tiandeng Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, China (in Lingyun sub-district ) with a long history, profound culture, strong science and technology. And it lays in the center of Caohejing-Huajing-the Belt of Innovation and Start-up under Xuhui District’s 13th five-year plan.

项目距离上海南站2公里,有公交车156直达，未来有地铁15号线华东理工大学站。周边有包括华东理工大学、上海中学等著名的学校，是近20万居民的聚居社区的交汇部位。

Lingyun Lane is 2 kilometers away from Shanghai South Railway Station, accessible directly by Bus No. 156. ECUST metro station to be opened in 2020. Around the project, there is East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai High School and other famous schools. Besides, 200,000 residents live in the communities nearby, which makes the project a gathering place.

The inclusive and open space will connect people closely and create more possibilities in community life. People are encouraged to reconstruct the city, keep the warmth of the community and input more energetic blood so as to build a creative community of new ecology.

本次竞赛设计目标是为品域中国城市更新类项目-品域·凌云里（上海徐汇区天等路400号）打造特色入口。竞赛旨在通过交互公共艺术装置展现品域·凌云里项目城市客厅的开放性，包容性，能够拉近项目与周边人群距离，与使用者形成良性互动。

The competition aims to create distinctive entrances for URS China’s urban renewal project Lingyun Lane, which is located in No. 400 Tiandeng Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, China. It is expected to bring people closely with the project, interact positively with users and show the inclusiveness and openness of the urban living room through the interactive public art installation.

 

 

本次设计的场地即定于更新完成之后的品域·凌云里项目公共空间内。

The installation will be placed in the public space of URS China’s project “Lingyun Lane” after renovation.

关于入口的重点说明：位置A为入口基点

关于千纸鹤动线的重点说明：从一楼长廊而入，贯穿整个长廊，以二层天桥为出口，如下图所示。

Key note about the entrance: Location A is the base of the entrance.

Key note about the moving route of the crane-style installation: start from the gallery on the first floor, walk through the gallery and the overpass on the second floor is the exit. You may find the map as below:

Task 1: interactive public art installation

Custom themes with its construction scope in location A (L: 4 meters; W: 4 meters; H: 4.5 meters).

在位置A打造交互公共艺术装置，同时考虑景观设计方案中千纸鹤主题概念，并与之形成组合互动或交互关系（景观设计方案详细介绍见竞赛资料包-相见资料包3）。

Task 2: interactive public art installation with the theme of paper crane.

Design an interactive public art installation in location A based on the concept of paper crane in the landscape design plan. Meanwhile, the interactive relationship between the installation and Lingyun Lane shall be considered. (Please find more details about the landscape project on our website by downloading the competition documents - part 3).

交互公共艺术装置要求

1.需要体现项目核心：新生 温度 脉动

2.装置本身应合理考虑互动方式、互动周期等要素；

3.该竞赛项目期望通过互动装置的设计及落成为品域·凌云里城市更新项目的激活起到推动性作用，助力提升项目的口碑和品质。

Requirements of the interactive public art installations:

1.  The core elements of the project shall be reflected: renovation, warmth, vitality.

2.  The installation shall be interactive in terms of the way and period.

3.  This competition aims to promote URS China’s urban renewal projects and improve its brand quality by calling for submissions and realizing the installations.

竞赛评估原则包括但不限于 :

1. 通过装置设计本身的艺术性、科技性、互动性、趣味性对项目作品进行专业评估，具有独特创意且较强社会影响力的作品优先选择；

2.尊重城市更新项目的本地文化属性，充分考虑装置设计主题与项目定位以及空间的协调性；

3.装置需充分考虑可实施性并同时考虑该项目的成本控制：参考标准：命题一制作成本控制在RMB15万内，命题二的制作成本控制在RMB25万内（长廊中千纸鹤制作成本除外）。

Evaluation principles include but not limited to below:

1.  The jury panel will evaluate submissions in terms of the artistry, science and technology, interaction and fun. A submission which is unique, creative and has powerful social influence will be preferred.

2.  Participants shall respect local culture and give enough thought about the design theme, project orientation and spatial coordination.

3. Project budget shall be also considered based on the installation implementation. The cost of task 1 shall be within 150,000 RMB and task 2 shall be within 250,000 RMB (the manufacturing cost of paper crane in the gallery will be not included).

1.【必选】方案需完整呈现于小于等于2张A2纵向图纸上，【可选】同时可选择展示小于50M的最终展示效果视频(提交视频连接即可），可选择提交部分互动展示成果的应用程序或相关设计硬件成果用于佐证最终成果的可行性。

图纸要求设计方案清晰，标注可读（页面边距10毫米），可选增加一张A2纵向图纸以陈述本小组互动装置设计的成功案例，前两张A2纵向图纸应包含：

-简短说明文字：不超过300字（标注除外），作品尺寸及作品基本介绍；

-报名编号：位于图纸右上角。编号要求字体：Arial 字号：20；

-设计图：中英文设计说明，总平面图位置，选择主题的内容。装置效果图、装置标准表达图纸、轴测或透视图、方案演变图、概念分析图及场景运用效果图；装置设计的制造及互动方式分析图；

2.所有图纸排布不可超过2张A2图纸。提交格式统一为JPG，每张图纸大小不超过10MB。

3.参赛方案需自行命名，命名不超过4个字。请按照“报名号-方案名称”格式命名文件。

4.作品提交语言：中英双语或英语。

5.所有图纸和文字说明在线提交前需进行校核。

6.三张图纸尽量按照图一:总图、效果图及相关说明以及总体分析；图二:软硬件设计思路及技术实现方式分析及装置制造分析。

7.封面：作品需上传封面，封面为作品的主视觉，大小为1024*768，72dpi，2MB以内

-软硬件设计思路及技术实现方式：该部分需包含交互方式设计及系统开发实现的展示：

【若有可选】交互方式需展示交互的途径，例如APP/机械装置/触控屏/虚拟现实/体感互动/感知硬件等可被实现的实际交互方式，实际交互时还需涉及交互工具的使用，如体感互动技术，就涉及到Kinect/Leapmotion这种体感外设的使用，需要对设备附带的开发工具进行展示。每种交互方式，都需要融合多个技术才可以实现，因此需要展示相关逻辑。

系统开发需展示开发的计划过程，例如开发工具及平台的选择、开发周期的预估等。

 

1. Your scheme shall be presented in one or two A2 sheets in a clear, vertical way and in readable format (with a 10mm page margin). 【Optional】You can also submit a display video (just to offer video link in your submission). You can submit part of the interactive display result application or related design hardware result to prove the feasibility of the final result. You canoptionally submit an extra A2 sheet in a vertical way to describe a successful interactive installation design case of your team. The first two A2 drawings should include:

-Brief description: including work’s size and product’s basic introduction (no more than 300 words);

-Registration No. shall be put in the upper right corner of the sheets, in Arial 20pt font;

-Design sketch: Chinese and English design instructions, general floor plan location,the content of the theme, installation effect drawing, installation standard drawing, axonometric or perspective drawing, scheme evolution drawing, concept analysis drawing and scene application effect drawing, analysis drawing of installation manufacturing and interaction mode;

2. A maximum of two A2 sheets in JPG format (no larger than 10MB for each) can be submitted;

3. A scheme title shall be self-named with no more than 4 words; the scheme shall be saved in the “registration No.– scheme title” format;

4. A scheme shall be submitted in bilingual languages (Chinese-English) or English only;

5. All drawings and written instructions must be checked before submission.

6. It is better to arrange your three drawings in accordance with Figure 1: general drawing, effect diagram and related textual descriptions and overall analysis; Figure 2: Software and hardware design ideas and technical realization modes analysis and Installation manufacturing analysis.

7. The cover must be submitted online which should be a rendering of your designwork; it must be uploaded in the size of 1024×768 pixels,72 dpi, less than 2MB.

-Software and hardware design ideas and technical realization mode: this part shall display the interactive design and system development

【Optional】Interactive methods need to showthe ways of interaction, such as APP / mechanical devices / touch screens /virtual reality / somatosensory interaction / sensing hardware and other actual interaction methods that can be implemented. The actual interaction also requires the use of interactive tools. Somatosensory interaction technology, for example, involves the use of somatosensory peripherals such as Kinect /Leapmotion, and the development tools attached to the device need to be demonstrated. Each type of interaction requires the integration of multiple technologies before it can be implemented, so the relevant logic needs to be demonstrated.

System development needs to show the development planning process, such as the selection of development tools and platforms, and the estimation of the development cycle.

 

对交互的定义：交互，交流与互动，最基本的理解即是输入与输出。使用者通过动作、语言或者其他各种各样的形式上的变动而引发不同的结果，即是交互的最基本定义。我们伸出一只手，回应者伸出另一只手与我们握手；开始下雨，人们便撑开伞；我们扔出纸飞机，纸飞机滑行前进……交互意味着原因与结果，一切原因与结果的关联都是交互。一旦使用者得到了某种反馈，基本的互动就形成了。

（请严格按照以上规范提交作品，详细提交示意请详见资料包7了解，对于不符合规范的作品，将被取消入围资格。）

 

The definition of interaction: It means to communicate and interact. It basically means input and output. The user triggers different results through actions, language, or other various formal changes, which is the most basic definition of interaction. We reach out a hand and the respondent will shake hand with us; when it starts to rain, people will open their umbrellas; we threw out a paper plane, and it will glide forward... Interaction means cause and effect, and all relation between causes and effects are interactions. Once the user gets certain feedback, the basic interaction is formed.

1.鼓励数字媒体信息类学科（如数字媒体技术、视觉传达、设计及编程、数字图像处理、计算机图形学、互动媒体技术、流媒体技术等）及设计类学科（建筑设计、艺术设计、景观设计等）从业者参与，爱好者及工作者均可报名参加；

2.鼓励组队参赛，鼓励跨学科人员配置。跨学科组合类似工作组配置有利于完成从前期概念设计；到中期概念的程序设计及测验、建造的模拟；再到最终成果落地的实际建造管理和程序的搭建和实现。当组队参赛人数≤4人，每组最多可提交两份作品；

3.团队所有成员均需在官网注册，常见问题请关注官网问答。

1. People majored in digital media and information like digital media technology, visual communication design, design and programming, digital image processing, computer graphics, interactive media technology and streaming media technology and people in the major of design like architecture design, art design and landscape design and other enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in this competition.

2. Group participation with interdisciplinary members are preferred, as interdisciplinary combination helps the concept design in the previous stage, the program design, test and construction simulation in the middle period and the practical construction management and program realization in the final period. The group shall be within 4 members, and each group can submit at most 2 submissions.

依照国家有关法律法规，凡主动参与本次征集活动的所有参赛者，均视为已经对所提交的作品版权归属作如下不可撤销声明：

1．原创声明

参与作品必须是参赛者个人原创作品，不能侵犯任何第三方个人和单位的任何专利权、著作权、商标权及其他合法知识产权。一旦查实非原创作品，主办单位有权立即取消其参与、入围与资助资格，收回资助资金物资及保留追究法律责任的权利，如主办单位因此被起诉或产生其他损失的，主办单位有权要求该参赛者进行全额赔偿，主办单位已先行赔付的，有权向参赛者追偿所有直接损失及间接损失(包括且不限于律师费、诉讼费、保全费、鉴定费、公证费等)。

In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, by participating in this competition, each Entrant irrevocably agrees to abide by the below statements about the copyrights for all submissions.

1. Statement of Originality

All submissions must be original, and each Entrant shall ensure that his/her entry does not infringe any third party’s rights, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and so on. Otherwise, the Entrant will be disqualified from the competition, and the organizer will withdraw all the sponsorship money and materials and reserve the right to investigate and affix legal liability of infringement. All damages and losses arising therefrom shall be borne by the Entrant; and all the direct and indirect damages (including but not limited to attorney fees, legal fees, costs of preservation, appraisal costs, notarial fees, and so on) suffered by the organizer shall be compensated by the Entrant.

2. Statement of Consent

By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to publicly display the works, and accepts the online selection process. And before uploading a submission, each Entrant must confirm that he/she has read and fully understands all of the clauses, and accepts them. The judging panel reserves the right to make a final decision on entry assessment and award list.
