In manufacturing industry, there are many “hidden champion” companies or specialized new enterprises, which focus on specific new material as well as process technology in the production. The innovation and ingenuity of these enterprises enabled the brand owners and designers to create unique and highly competitive new products in the market, which have continuously driven the innovation and growth in the value chain.

本次竞赛由华峰集团联合国际竞赛平台 Young Bird Plan 共同发布。竞赛分为三个类别:鞋类、服装类、综合类,以“用新创享生活”为主题,可结合华峰集团材料进行创作,设计产品需符合华峰文化、价值观及其产品的特质。竞赛鼓励设计师通过对材料和工艺的深刻理解,与设计相结合,做出有特色的原创设计作品。
Hosted jointly by Huafon Group and the international competition platform, Young Bird Plan, the competition includes three categories: Footwear, Apparel and Comprehensive. With the theme of “New Materials New Life”, the design can be created in combination with Huafon Group’s materials and presents Huafon’s culture, value and the characteristics of products. The talented designers are encouraged to combine the deep understanding of material and process with the design and to submit unique and original design works.

This competition aims at calling for the participation of talented designers and passionate amateurs domestically and worldwide. With the goal of collecting innovative ideas of young designers as well as forward thinking and diversified design works of products application, the competition aims at encouraging the research and development and extending a wider field for innovative materials application through the design. It also showcases Huafon Group’s brand concept, DNA and the characteristics of products.

1.本次竞赛分为三个类别:鞋类、服装类、综合类。其中,综合类包括但不限于个护、电器、穿戴设备、家居、玩具、箱包、交通、医疗、包装等。
2.设计一个/多个类别的单品或者一套产品组合,可跨类别设计。
3.材料不限,设计可结合华峰产品,考虑符合华峰产品的特质。
4.参赛者必须确保设计作品为原创作品,且在竞赛期间确保参赛者本人拥有版权。已参加其他工业设计竞赛获奖的作品不可参赛。
5. 设计可落地、可打样展示。
1. Entries must belong to one of the following categories: Footwear, Apparel and Comprehensive. The Comprehensive category includes but not limit to personal care, household appliances, smart wearable, home decoration, toys, luggage and bags, transport, medical, packaging, etc.
2. A single product or portfolio that belongs to either one category or several categories is allowed. A cross-category design is allowed.
3. There is no limitation on product materials. It can combine the design with Huafon’s products and present the characteristics of Huafon’s materials.
4. Entrants must ensure that your submission is original and you own the copyright during the competition. The submission of a design work awarded by other industrial competitions is prohibited.
5. The functionality and feasibility for production of the design shall be taken into account. The prototype can be produced.

Asics Running Shoes Metaride AMU by Kengo Kuma
Metaride AMU是建筑师隈研吾与日本跑鞋运动品牌Asics(亚瑟士)的联名款。设计围绕“降低动能资源”的环保理念,旨在以一种轻盈绿色的方式享受跑步。将日式传统竹制工艺yatara融入鞋面设计,将当下流行的袜套鞋与纳米纤维素制成的线条组合,栓口式绑带,鞋面巧妙地形成了品牌特色标志。鞋底分为两部分,黄褐色木制中底采用环保复合木材材料制作,搭配白色大底;鞋跟部分为减震胶质材料搭配欧斯莱泡棉与软木内底,确保专业运动鞋的缓冲能力。
The architect Kengo Kuma has collaborated with running shoes brand Asics to create a new Metaride AMU silhouette. With focus on the environmental protection concept “reducing energy consumption”, the design aims to provide a light and green running experience. Employing a traditional Japanese bamboo crafting technique called "yatara", the synthetic strips serve to hold the foot in place, and also form the Asics stripe graphic on the side. The underlying performance knit gives a sock-like feel, and a toggle lacing system secures things further. The dramatic all-white upper sits atop a tan midsole made from eco-friendly Flytefoam cellulose nanofiber, while a white outsole with gel insert at the heel provides traction and bounce.

Architect Zaha Hadid has designed a leather bag for Fendi, part of a collection of creations by famous UK-based women to be auctioned for British children's charity Kids Company. Zaha Hadid’s version of the Fendi Peekaboo bag features overlapping layers of black leather. The layers wrap around the base of the bag and fold up to cover the two larger sides. The sheets are staggered to look like "pages of a book". The inside is lined with petrol-coloured leather, and black horse hair is used for the sides. Hadid's design is one of 10 iterations of the Peekaboo bag in the collection, created to coincide with the opening of Fendi's New Bond Street store in London. Other designs were created by artist Tracey Emin, actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomie Harris, models Cara Delevingne, Jerry Hall and her daughter Georgia-May Jagger, fashion illustrator Tanya Ling, singer Adele and journalist Kate Adie.

The Cork collection, designed by Tom Dixon, the creative director of Tom Dixon brand and the designer of IKEA, features a shelf, stool and three tables, with chubby, rounded silhouettes that designed to let the material shine. The material was mixed with a small amount of polyurethane resin to bind it at a ratio of 93 percent cork to seven percent resin. The material is charred, and the family-friendly furniture pieces are brown and steer clear of an overly Scandinavian aesthetic. It can be continually recycled, even with the resin. It is interesting that when the density meets a certain standard the cork table is the same hard as the wooden one, with warmer texture and softer quality than the concrete or glass. The material is sound absorbent, fireproof, water resistant and durable. It is popular for the design of hotels and restaurants.

Using a single material, polyurethane foam UP 40, the Please Hold Up Chair was created. It presented the correct proportions between a good structure and a chair. It comes in a boxy square shape and is very light. At first glance, it looks like it’s made of concrete, but it’s not. It appears to be fun and friendly. This furniture piece brings together aesthetics, form, and design. The uniqueness of the material allows the chair to show off soft geometries, a sculptural look, and durability. We see the Please Hold Up Chair in different styles and heights. There are chairs with a high backrest, while some have a low backrest. Others have nothing, so they appear to be more like stools. However, the chair can serve its purpose.

An innovative storage has been created specifically for the new Peugeot 308, the updated version of 3008SUV. It is 3D printed using a brand new flexible polymer, Ultrasint thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). It is a perfect material for impact absorbing parts that require high elasticity and for flexible mesh-like structures. This customized storage has varied functions, for example, a sunglasses holder, a can holder and a phone/cardholder. The design partners also include HP Inc., Mäder, ERPRO and BASF.

1. 方案需整体呈现于不少于 3张 A2 纵向图纸上(上限5张),要求图纸清晰,标注可读(页边距10mm),包含:
-简短说明文字:不超过1200字,及详细标注材料工艺;
-报名编号:位于图纸右上角,字体Arial,字号20;
-图纸需包含立面图、轴测图、效果图、细部图、模型图或爆炸图等。
2. 提交格式统一为JPG,每张图纸大小不超过10M;
3. 参赛方案自行命名,命名尽量简洁,请按照“报名号-方案名称-01/02/03”格式命名文件;
4. 作品提交语言:中英双语或英语;
5. 所有图纸和文字说明在线提交;
6. 封面:作品需上传封面,封面为作品的主视觉,尺寸为1045*654,72dpi,2MB以内.
7. 所有图纸和文字说明中,请勿透露参赛者身份信息(如姓名、学校/机构名称等),如有违反,将取消参赛资格。
1. The design proposal should be presented on no less than 3 sheets of A2 vertical drawings (a maximum of 5), which should be clear and readable (with a margin of 10mm), including:
- Short description: No more than 1,200 words, with details about the materials and technical processes used;
- Registration number: Located on the upper right corner of the drawing and set in 20 point Arial font.
- Drawings should include elevation, axonometric, renderings, detail drawing, model drawing or exploded views.
2. Drawings can be submitted in JPG format (no larger than 10MB for each sheet).
3. The proposal’s title shall be as simple as possible. File name should be saved in the following format: Registration No. - Proposal Title – 01/02/03
4. The submitted proposal shall be in English or bilingual (English and Chinese).
5. All drawings and text are submitted online.
6. The cover, which is the key visual image of your design work, must be submitted online and uploaded as 1045×654 pixel, 72 dpi, less than 2MB.
7. All drawings and descriptive text must not disclose any of the Entrant’s identity information (such as Name, School Name/ Organization Name). Any violation of this policy will result in the Entrant’s disqualification.

1.任何设计、艺术相关学科背景的从业人员、学生、爱好者均可免费参加,不限国籍和年龄。
2.参赛者可以是个人或者团队,团队参赛每组不超过5人。
3.每个参赛编号提交作品数不限。

1. The Competition is open to professionals, students and amateurs with a background in design and art for free. There is no limit on nationality and age.
2. Entrants may participate as individuals or in groups. However, each group shall not exceed 5 persons.

Huafon Group, headquartered in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China. Founded in 2013 by Isa Ye, Young Bird Plan, is an international competition platform for global design talents. With three key elements – fabrication, mentor guidance and an interdisciplinary jury – it is fast becoming a leading voice in global design fields like urban design, architecture design, landscape design, interior design, product design, logo design and fashion design. In the past five years, it has attracted participants from 1,045 top design institutions and 4,257 top design agencies domestically and worldwide, covering 310 cities in 75 countries.
The platform constantly connects and meets various demands from political, business, and academic circles and actively fills supply and demand gaps among designers, manufacturers, developers, urban operators and users. ■ 原创声明:参与作品必须是参赛者个人/团队原创作品,不能侵犯任何第三方个人和单位的任何专利权、著作权、商标权及其他合法知识产权。一旦查实非原创作品,主办单位有权立即取消其参与、入围与资助资格,收回资助资金物资及保留追究法律责任的权利,如主办单位因此被起诉或产生其他损失的,主办单位有权要求该参赛者进行全额赔偿,主办单位已先行赔付的,有权向参赛者追偿所有直接损失及间接损失(包括且不限于律师费、诉讼费、保全费、鉴定费、公证费等)。
■ 同意声明:本次大赛采用线上评选的方式,参赛者上传作品即表示同意授权主办单位为举办大赛目的向所有人署名或隐名的形式展示作品,同意大赛确定的评选方式。参赛者提交作品之前,已仔细阅读所有条款,充分理解并表示同意,本次大赛的评委会对所有获奖作品的评选结果拥有最终裁定权。
秉承公平、公正、公开的原则,竞赛工作组将邀请专业领域人士组成评审团,对竞赛进行方案评选工作。如有作品纠纷问题可联系竞赛工作组进行举报,并提供相应的证据作为佐证(如抄袭作品的相关文件),一经查实将取消参赛或获奖资格。
参赛者在任何情况下都不得联系或尝试联系评审团成员,如经发现,将取消参赛资格。
参赛者提交作品,即表示参赛者同意竞赛组织方有权以独占的方式优先有偿获得作品知识产权的权力。
在竞赛结果发布之前,参赛者须对其设计作品保密。直到华峰HUAFON—2022材料应用创新设计大奖获奖者正式公布。如有违反,将取消参赛资格。

In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, by participating in this competition, each Entrant irrevocably agrees to abide by the below statements about the copyrights for all submissions.
■ Statement of Originality
All submissions must be original, and each Entrant shall ensure that his/her entry does not infringe any third party’s rights, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and so on. Otherwise, the Entrant will be disqualified from the competition, and the organizer will withdraw all the sponsorship money and materials and reserve the right to investigate and affix legal liability of infringement. All damages and losses arising therefrom shall be borne by the Entrant; and all the direct and indirect damages (including but not limited to attorney fees, legal fees, costs of preservation, appraisal costs, notarial fees, and so on) suffered by the organizer shall be compensated by the Entrant.
■ Statement of Consent
By submitting an entry, each Entrant agrees to authorize the organizer to publicly display the work in the form of credited or hidden names to everyone for the purpose of holding the competition, and accepts the online selection process. And before uploading a submission, each Entrant must confirm that he/she has read and fully understands all of the clauses, and accepts them. The judging panel reserves the right to make a final decision on entry assessment and award list.
According to the principles of fairness, impartiality and openness, the Competition Commission will invite professionals of each field to form the Jury and work on the appraisal of entry. If there is any dispute on entry, please contact and report to the Competition Commission with corresponding proof (such as related files of the plagiarized work). If the plagiarism is verified and confirmed after investigation, it means automatic disqualification either on participating in the Competition or on winning an award.
*In any circumstance, the Entrant shall not contact or try to contact any member of the Jury. Any form of violation against this rule means automatic disqualification.
The submission of work by the Entrant refers to the Entrant agree the organizer of the Competition to have the sole right of priority on obtaining the intellectual property of the entry work based on purchasing.
Before the final release of the Competition’s result, the confidentiality of the entry work shall be protected by the Entrant till the Champion of HUAFON-2022 Material Application Innovation Design Award is formally announced. Any form of violation against this rule means automatic disqualification.
