“保护野生动物的第一步,是了解它们,而后学会如何与它们相处。”
项目“出没中”是一场推动野生动物保护与城市生物多样性发展的公益活动。自疫情以来,“野生动物进入城市”现象频发,甚至有部分野生动物在城市安家落户。针对这一现象,我们发起了一场模拟“野生动物在城市出没”的活动,通过环境图形与线上应用的互动设计,邀请人们参与活动并学习与野生动物相处的知识。引发人们对城市与自然、人类与野生动物关系的思考,并积极地探寻人类与野生动物相处的新方式。
"The first step to protecting wildlife is to understand them and then learn how to live with them."
The project "Animal Crossing" is a public welfare activity to promote wildlife protection and the development of urban biodiversity. Since the epidemic, the phenomenon of "wild animals entering cities" has been frequent, and some wild animals have even settled down in cities. In response to this phenomenon, we launched an activity to simulate "wild animals in the city". Through the interactive design of environmental graphics and online applications, people were invited to participate in the activity and learn about living with wild animals. It will arouse people's thinking about the relationship between city and nature, human and wild animals, and actively explore new ways of getting along with wild animals.

铁锈与铁矿的化学成分高度一致。铁矿冶炼铁、铁合成钢铁、钢铁自然生锈——铁元素的存在形式由于人类的干预呈现出不断的轮回。我由不锈钢生锈的矛盾入手研究,结合铁锈的生长模式,在文字的来去之间演绎铁元素的轮回。作品是基于铁生锈现象构建的一种设计程序,通过实验设计、装置设计、文字与图像处理,模拟铁冶炼与铁生锈的轮回形式。不断被除锈和生锈的方块铁片,不断出现与消失的工业产品,两者结合重现人类社会中铁元素存在形式的轮回。
The chemical composition of iron rust is highly consistent with iron ore. Iron ore smelts iron, iron synthesizes steel, and steel naturally rusts — the form of existence of the element iron presents a constant cycle due to human intervention. I start my research from the paradox of stainless steel rusting and combine it with the growth pattern of iron rust, interpreting the reincarnation of the element iron between the coming and going of types. The work is a design program based on the phenomenon of iron rusting. Through experimental design, installation design, text and image processing, it simulates the reincarnation of iron smelting and iron rusting. The combination of the square pieces of iron that are constantly being de-rusted and rusted, and the industrial products that are constantly appearing and disappearing, reproduces the reincarnation of the existence of the element of iron in human society.
The work is a picnic-themed event design created from three perspectives: “THE ORGANIZER”, “THE PARTICIPANT”, and “THE BYSTANDER”. Involved in the same picnic, the three “groups” shape their respective perceptions of the event, and develop subtle relations where they are parallel with but different from each other. On the basis, the work leads to our discussion about the information media environment.
Across the three perspectives, maps, calendars, archives, photo albums and vlogs are used as narrative media to display different visual styles, and to give each of the three “groups” a visual identity. The narration involves 16 basic articles as clues to introduce content from one perspective to another and finally form a closed loop that allows a bystander to be an organizer. Through an ordinary picnic, the work seeks to showcase the media environment, identity narration, and varied interfaces and visual traits shaped by identity narration in the context of identity narration.
THE ORGANIZER: This perspective refers to the planners, focusing on how the picnic is organized and planned on the whole. Comprised of three parts (maps, calendars, archives), it seeks to reveal how the organizers mark out a plan that covers the place, number of participants, time, weather, articles and activities of the event among others.
THE PARTICIPANT: This perspective refers to the internal experiencers of the event, focusing on the feelings and experiences got during the picnic. Comprised of two parts (photos, diaries), it seeks to show how the participants’ moods (i.e. expectations, experiences and feelings) change during the event.
THE BYSTANDER: This perspective refers to the external experiencers who observe the picnic online, focusing on the extension and restructuring of the event after its ending. Comprised of three parts (watching, interaction, creation), it involves images and videos as the main mode of presentation.
当下的设计总是积极介入社会问题与热点议题来传递信息,但是在展览或其他的展示方式上却与环境问题背道而驰,特别是短期内反复布置与拆除的展览形式更加速了气候危机。通过填埋、焚烧的方式被废处理的一次性展览,甚至在处理的过程中也会产生额外的费用,这所有的浪费都被置之不理。我们是否想过展览结束后是什么样?我们为了探索与创造意义非凡的展览方式,了解在展览过程中发生的活动对环境的影响。我们回收了展览之后的废弃木材加以再设计,延长了展览物料的生命周期。在木材上保留了现有材料的原型,提出了可替代的方案使其能够可持续使用。并且,通过指南手册,提出可持续展览的代替方案,探索未来展览的发展方向。
The current design always actively involves in social issues to deliver message, but it is contrary to environmental issues in exhibitions and other ways, especially in short-term exhibitions that have been repeatedly constructed and withdrawal. After the exhibition, its waste is disposed of through landfill and incineration, incur additional costs even in the process of disposal, and all waste is ignored. Have we thought about what it will be like after the exhibition? In order to explore and create meaningful exhibitions, we understand the environmental impact of the activities that take place during the exhibition. We recycled and redesigned the waste wood after the exhibition, prolonging the life cycle of the exhibition waste. Prototypes of existing materials have been retained on the wood, suggesting alternatives for its sustainable use. In addition, through the manual, we propose alternatives to sustainable exhibitions and explore the direction of future exhibitions.
